I highly recommend Express Zip File Compression.
The free version comes with enough features to stand alongside some of the best zip file software. The only real complaint I have about this program is, like other NCH Software programs, how it constantly reminds you you're using a free version and tells you to buy it and check out the other programs they offer.
Even though it's under 1 MB, though, it carries with it a Help file that redirects you to a browser. It doesn't come with a ton of insane icons and mostly uses text to convey its function, making it very hard to get lost. The best part about this program is how tiny it is. One of them is Express Zip File Compression. However, the Windows default zip file leaves a lot to be desired, so there are tons of software out there that let you create zip files easily. It also makes their total size smaller, making it even easier for transferring files. With zip files, you can simply send one file instead of dozens to somebody, bypassing many file transfer limits. Zip files are incredibly important for sharing files.
